Sound Healing Basics
Sound moves you. This book shows you how – and how to work with it.
A grounded, beginner-friendly guide to the physics, the energy, and the instruments of sound healing. Van wrote it as a musician and Biofield Tuning practitioner – for anyone who wants to understand what they’ve already felt.

You have felt it already.
A low note settling in your chest. A singing bowl ringing, and something in you softening.
For the sound healer who wants a foundation to stand on, and the curious soul who wants to know why sound reaches where words cannot.
Understanding you can stand on.
- How sound moves through a body that is mostly water. The actual physics, not a metaphor.
- Why some sounds ground you and others unsettle you. Frequency, resonance, entrainment.
- Every core instrument and what it is for: voice, bowls, gongs, forks, chimes, drums, drones.
- How to choose your first instrument, before you spend hundreds on the wrong one.
- The anatomy of a safe session, and the ethics that protect the people you work with.
28 chapters, made with care.
Diagrams that earn their place, and a page you can actually sit with. Open any spread full size.
The book, and a guide to help you begin.
- The complete book – 28 chapters across four parts: How Sound Moves You · Energy and the Body · The Instruments · From Theory to Practice.
- Choosing Your First Instrument – a 26-page companion guide: what to look for, and what to avoid, before your first bowl or gong.

The free depth behind the book: how nervous system regulation actually works and the three states in plain language, in the journal.
Before you decide.
Do I need a musical background?
No. The book is written to be accessible whatever your history with sound, with an extra layer of depth for musicians who want it.
Is this scientific or spiritual?
Both, held honestly. Every claim is labelled by the strength of its evidence: established science, plausible mechanism, or interpretive framework. You are never asked to believe more than the evidence supports, or less than your experience tells you.
Do I need to own instruments?
No. The book helps you decide whether to buy at all, and what to buy first if you do.
Is this a certification?
No. It is the foundation you would want underneath you before any course or certification.
What format is it?
An instant-download PDF. Read it on any device, keep it for good.
I would rather experience it than read about it.
Then read about it later. Van offers tuning fork and sound sessions through her 1:1 Biofield Tuning practice. She and Nic also play live sound journeys on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Is this medical treatment?
No. Sound healing supports regulation and restoration. It is not a treatment for medical conditions, and this book does not present it as one.
